The Characteristics of a Good System Optimizer

A good system optimizer should provide the tools necessary to repair registry errors, protect your personal information in order to help prevent the theft of your identity (social security number, credit cards, banking information, passwords), block any malicious software (malware) found on your computer, and decrease Windows startup time, improve your computer's performance.

A good system optimizer will streamline the disk by optimizing the layout of files increasing your computer's performance when searching for file data. Another good optimizer feature must be the capability to backup and restore your system. Then, if you make a change and have a system problem, you will be able to restore your system back to the previous working state. A good system optimizer will enable you to fix Windows registry errors, delete junk files (such as temporary internet and temporary Windows files that are no longer needed), and unnecessary duplicate files. As you use your computer, it can develop registry errors which will slow down your system.

A good system optimizer will eliminate Windows registry errors by cleaning invalid entries, remove invalid application code paths, and compress your registry to the smallest size possible. Registry compression results in increased system performance during normal registry processing. Your internet browser history should also be cleaned to protect your privacy.

A good system optimizer will use Windows Update to make sure all Microsoft software (Microsoft Windows OS, Microsoft Office, and other Microsoft products) is kept up-to-date. Using Windows Update eliminates the need to go to different Web sites to get the latest updates for supported Microsoft software. A good system optimizer will block malicious ActiveX controls. These ActiveX controls, after being registered into your Internet Explorer browser, will damage your computer system. You may even have your personal information stolen. A good system optimizer will have a list of known malicious ActiveX controls. You will then have the option of removing any or all of the malicious ActiveX controls found on your computer.

If you are an Internet Explorer user, it would be a good idea for you to upgrade to Internet Explorer 8 which is the latest and most secure version. A browser that is lacking in security is an open door to all sorts of spyware and viral infections for your computer system.
